My Capacity for Optimistic Denial

Monday, October 10th 2011 - Book 136 - When I produced this book, I was still planning to drive to Wallowa County in 3 days to see Emily, and then drive back to the northern Cascades to work on all my hopeful bookmaking projects. And I quote, "And if I don't find any inspiration on my hike to the mine, I'll stop off to see Will and Kate my Special Guest Stars. They always have interesting things to offer. Then again, the last two times I've visited them I ended up digging a ditch and hauling rocks around with them. Maybe that's what I need?...some more good old fashioned labor." Yes, the dreaded dark, gloomy days of October were definitely here. And like other times in my life, I was set in a wierd kind of optimistic denial...the belief that because I knew it was coming, and I could track and understand it, that somehow made me invincible to the powers of gloom. Ha! Deer see the headlights coming too!
