Wednesday, April 11th 2012 - Somewhere along the way, I got an email from a woman named Becky who invited me to participate in "The Canby Author's Fair" on April 28th. I was excited to have an opportunity to be seen in public, but I soon discovered that my Bookmaker Jake character was going to have some issues trying to fit into the classic, self-published author mold. The first of which was a lengthy email dialogue with Becky concerning my lack of ISSBN's, barcodes, and other such hallmarks of factory processing on my books. Ironically, Becky's theme for the fair was "Real books with real pages." I guess she really meant "Real factory processed, barcoded books with real pages folded by bookmaking robots." She almost uninvited me, claiming it was a "classic author's fair," becuase I didn't have the Sign of the Beast on the back of my books.
In any case, when I woke up on this day I was exhausted from "the blood feud," helping my sister, moving to the penthouse, a full night of factory-process dishwashing at The Moon Colony, worrying about my Dad's heart trouble, and the ups and downs of emails from Becky. I didn't really want to make a book. I wanted to stare at the walls for as long as I could before I had to ride my bike to The Moon Colony and do it all over again.
But I rallied, and this Run of the Red Mill Book was the result.

This book was sold October 3rd 2015 at the Affordable Arts Festival in Hillsboro to Walter, a fellow writer who was fun to talk with. He had great energy and I hope I got his name right! Thanks "Walter!"
