Monday July, 18 2011 - Book 64 - I like this scene a lot. I made the book cover from a spiral notebook I used while I was trying to fit in with other writers in Enterprise, Oregon, a group of writers who call themselves "The Fishtrap," or some shit like that. I don't think I fit in so much because I did not like poetry, sapy western non-fiction, or Wallace Stegner, but because I was struggling to maintain my ablity to relate to "the normies" in town. My relations with the people living at what many a local called "The Raisin Farm" were making it hard for me to sit civily in a writing group and be normal. Every time I spoke to the Fishtrapians I felt like I was trying to bridge the gap of Hells Canyon. In any case, this book made from my old notebook (complete with inserts for your notes) was my attempt to turn a bad experience into a good one.

This book now belongs to a youthful teen who visited our booth at Wordstock 2012. She really liked the spiral notebook production scene, and I hope she enjoys The Living City as well. Thanks for your support!
