Monday July, 18th 2011 - Book 65 - I made this book cover from the same box I made my first "Dole the Sun God" book, and like the first I used it as a way of asking the gods for a little break in the gloom. I also spent a few narrative accounting moments in this scene taking stock of My Bookmaking Boot Camp training. I was smiling in my last shot, so I guess I wasn't feeling too bad about my progress!
PROP COSTS: $10.30 + (STORYTIME WORKED: 2hrs 31min x OUR EXCHANGE RATE (based on fed minimum wage): $7.25) = $28.55
This book now belongs to Mathew Porter, Seattle's King of Hipster Art. He had a booth beside Our Home at Bumpershoot. At first I didn't know what to think about him after he compared my bookmaking to "making bricks," but throughout the three days we "tabled" together, I grew fond of him. And I was honored to swap this book for one of his children's books and a few illustrated cards. Thanks Mathew!
